Artist Statement:
Motion pictures trick the eye into seeing movement—just a series of still images flickering by, blending together before we even realize it. Our eyes can only take in so much before everything turns into a blur. I imagine information works the same way. These days, it comes at us so fast, so easily, that I barely have time to process one thing before the next demands my attention. It’s exciting, but also exhausting, like I’m always trying to catch up.
Yet, I don’t feel this pressure when engaging with motion pictures or comic books. Though they present sequences of images, they evoke emotions rather than urgency, offering an escape from the noise of reality. In their frames and pages, I find a rare sense of stillness—something to absorb at my own pace, free from the weight of expectation. That absence of pressure is what makes art beautiful to me, and it’s why I create mine—to capture that feeling, to make something that isn’t just consumed in an instant but truly felt.
